Hey, I’m Nick – A certified personal trainer with a lifelong passion for fitness and a mission to help others unlock their full potential.
Fitness has been a constant in my life ever since I was a kid. Growing up in Gresham, Oregon, I remember doing push-ups and pull-ups with my dad at the age of nine. In 2011, I did a workout with my brother-in-law and it completely destroyed me! It was a program called Body Beast. I didn’t even finish the workout. I felt so alive afterward and I knew that I wanted to get stronger.
Fast forward to 2019, I had graduated from the Art Institute of Portland with a Bachelor degree in digital film and video. I love to edit videos and bring characters to life. To this day, it remains an integral part of who I am. However, in December of that year, I would make a life-changing promise to myself: Stick to a workout program for three months, working out six times a week.
Starting on January 1st, 2020, that is exactly what happened. I subscribed to Beachbody and found my old nemesis – Body Beast. I worked for Coca-Cola at the time as a merchandiser. To put it simply, the job is physically demanding and the days were long. After each day, I went to my gym and got a solid hour workout in. I stuck to the nutrition program as well and for the first month it was all about building muscle and laying a foundation.
It was at BFit, the name of the gym I went to, that I discovered the term “personal trainer”. I didn’t pay too much mind to it, but those two words would become a part of me in the years to come.
As time went on, my drive for fitness grew stronger. I felt more confident, faster, smarter even, and by March of 2020 I felt like I was on top of the world. Then COVDI-19 hit… and like any good story, there has to be a moment where the hero suffers a major setback. This was mine. I lost my gym, my momentum, and for a time, my drive.
But I met someone during that time, my now wonderful wife, Katie. Her encouragement led me to the world of fitness again. In 2023 she introduced me to Show Up Fitness where I became certified as a personal trainer and got a position as a coach at Fit Body Boot Camp. First time trainer working as a coach for large groups? Talk about crazy. In 2024, I became NASM certified as well. Currently I am forging my own way as a trainer, helping anyone who wants to not only look strong, but be strong.
It is my dream to become the best personal trainer in Oregon. I want to inspire people to take the next step, to challenge themselves, and to help set them up for whatever life throws at them.
Alright, that does it for my TED Talk. Thank you for your time!
